Child Care Subsidy
The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a payment made by the Australian Government to help families with the cost of quality early childhood education and care. This is paid directly to the service and will be reflected as a weekly fee reduction.
To access the new Child Care Subsidy, you must first complete the Child Care Subsidy Assessment through Centrelink on your myGov account and then confirm your child’s successful enrolment in a service.
Three things will determine a family’s level of Child Care Subsidy:
- A family’s combined income will determine the percentage of subsidy they are eligible to receive.
- An activity test will how many hours of subsidised care families can access, up to a maximum of 100 hours per fortnight.
- The type of childcare service will determine the hourly rate cap. The centre based care cap is $11.98 per hour.
